Alburtis Council appoints two new members
The Alburtis Town Council appointed two new members at their meeting on Wednesday night. Sherryann Oels and David Lehr will be the newest members of Council with terms ending on the first Monday of 2014.
Council’s two vacant seats were to replace Kyle Bower and Kathleen Palmer. Palmer was recently voted into the position of Town Mayor after the Mayor passed away last month. Bower resigned from his position following legal trouble. Oels was voted to replace Bower’s seat unanimously. Council had to take three separate votes in order to find a majority to vote Lehr into replacing Palmer.
Oels and Lehr can both run for reelection in 2014 when two two-year terms and three four-year terms are available on Council.
Council President Steven Hill also opened a nomination and vote on who will replace Palmer as the second Vice President of Council. Council Member Kathleen Raines was voted in unanimously to the position. Council Member John Aleszczyk will continue to hold his position as Vice President of Council.
