ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

The City of Allentown says it's pumping millions of dollars into the areas that need it most.

Mayor Ed Pawlowski says the city plans to spend $2.5 million to revitalize Allentown's poorest neighborhoods.

The mayor says it's part of a new beginning for Allentown, which is seeing a recent boom in development.

"We want to make sure that as we're seeing this growth and development, no one is left behind and that we really have an opportunity for all in the city of Allentown to rise for all boats to rise," Pawlowski said.

It's not yet known what exact neighborhoods the efforts will focus on but the plan includes things like improving the streets and funding after-school programs.
