Allison Dehaas loses locks to raise money for pediatric cancer
A Northampton County teenager did her part Sunday to help children with pediatric cancer.
Allison Dehaas decided to shave her head.
She also raised $1,000 for pediatric cancer research.
Allison says learning about the number of kids who lose their lives to the disease at a young age--made her want to make a difference on her 18th birthday.
"Something that pulled on my heart and I felt like I really needed to do something and I'm an "adult" today, so I thought give back to kids. And I looked up the statistics of it and it's actually really alarming," Dehaas said.
Allison shaved her head Sunday through the St. Baldrick's Foundation, which is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find a cure for childhood cancer.
