Angelica Hernandez foils burglar trying to break into her Bethlehem home
Police catch would-be burglar by his footprints
A man is facing charges after a homeowner discovered him trying to break into her home, officials said.
Police have not yet determined the identity of the man who was seen by Angelica Hernandez trying to break a window on the first floor of her home at 118 West Graham Place, Bethlehem, at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, officials said.
Hernandez was on the second floor when she heard noises in her back yard, and after calling police she went downstairs to investigate, officials said.
The suspect fled when he saw Hernandez, but was picked up by police who were arriving at the scene, officials said, adding that the tread on the suspect's shoes matched fresh prints near the window that had been broken.
The suspect, who told police that he lived at 336 Buchanan St., Bethlehem, was arraigned on charges of burglary, attempted burglary and criminal trespass and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $50,000 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Dec. 19.
