Reports of a roaming bear had residents South Whitehall Twp., Lehigh Co., on edge Sunday afternoon.

People in the neighborhood spotted the bear and called officials just before the cub climbed a tree in the back yard of a home in the 1400 block of Springhouse Road.

Police and the Pennsylvania Game Commission responded to the scene but could not tranquilize the animal because it was too high up.

As of Monday morning, the bear left the tree, according to officials, who did not know where the bear went or what time it left.
