BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

Bethlehem police say a suspected armed robber is off the streets, and his parents turned him in.

Officials say a man robbed the Express Gas and Food Mart in the 2300 block of Linden St. shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday. Police say Andrew Bilheimer made off with $1,000 in cash after pointing a semi-automatic handgun at a store clerk, who handed over the money.

Police arrested Bilheimer, 24, Monday in Allentown and charged him with the robbery. Bilheimer has no known address.

Bethlehem police posted a surveillance video and still photo on social media sites, and on Monday, Laura and and Robert Bilheimer, Andrew's parents, saw the video and photo, contacted police and identified their son as the armed robber.

Police said tips started coming into the department early Monday, and the Bethlehem Police worked closely with the Allentown Police to locate Bilheimer and his 1991 green Volvo.

Bilheimer was taken into custody around 3:30 p.m. Monday by Allentown Police at the Redner's Market parking lot on Airport Road.

Bilheimer is facing charges of robbery, theft, receiving stolen property and recklessly endangering another person.

He was sent to Northampton County Prison on $250,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. August 16.
