One of Bethlehem's mayoral candidates is making an issue of same-sex marriage.

Thursday evening Democrat William Reynolds held a news conference to announce his support for all LGBT Bethlehem residents.

Reynolds, a current city councilman, says as mayor he will refrain from using his power to marry any couples until there are equal rights for all.

"One of the ceremonial functions mayors have is to officiate weddings if they choose. Well I am here today to promise that as mayor, I pledge to you today, I will not officiate or preside any marriage in the city of Bethlehem until I can officiate all marriages," he said.

Reynolds also says he would require diversity training for all city employees.
