Some local students are getting a first hand look at the health care industry.
Northampton Community College is holding its "Adventures in Health Care" camp this week.
The camp is for students in 6th through 9th grades. It gives them an opportunity to learn more about what EMTs, doctors, nurses and other health care professionals do.
Students on Monday learned what a sonographer does.
"You can sit down and you can look at a Power Point presentation or somebody can talk about what they do, but to actually see and experience then they have a better sense of what a sonographer is, what they actually do," said Debra Youngfelt, educator.
In case you were wondering, a sonographer does ultra sounds.
Later this week, the students will visit Lehigh Valley Hospital and a chiropractor's office. They'll also be CPR-certified by the end of camp.
