It hasn't been an easy task for crews trying to retrieve a large construction vehicle that toppled over and tumbled down a steep embankment.
The mishap unfolded shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday when a construction vehicle working on the northbound shoulder of Route 309 in Upper Saucon Twp., Lehigh Co., tumbled down the embankment and into the Saucon Creek, said Asst. Chief Bob Jones, Upper Saucon Fire Dept.
No one was injured, Jones said.
One northbound lane of Route 309 remains closed while crews work to upright and remove the vehicle, which PennDOT said was being used for the ongoing Route 309 betterment project.
Hazardous material crews were also called to the scene to clean up a small amount of diesel fuel that spilled from the truck into the Saucon Creek, said Jones.
