Published On: Nov 04 2011 12:27:26 PM EDT

A federal agency has extended the deadline to register for disaster relief funds from hurricane damages.

Homeowners and small business owners now have until December 14 to apply for federal grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

As of Friday, 88,576 individual households have registered with FEMA in the state for assistance from Tropical Storm Lee and Hurricane Irene. Of those households, FEMA has approved $122 million in disaster assistance grants.

The Small Business Administration has approved $53.9 million in loans for relief from the same storms.

FEMA is partnering with Lowe's to provide information on how to reduce the risk of damage from future disasters.

FEMA specialists will be on hand at the following Lowe's improvement stores from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Monday Nov. 7:

2625 Shillington Road, Sinking Spring;

2002 Chemical Road, Plymouth Meeting;

1845 Hempstead Road, Lancaster and

4055 Welsh Road, Willow Grove.

Beginning Monday, hours of operations for Disaster Recovery Centers will change. The new hours will be Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on Sunday. All DRC's will be open on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
