ROSETO, Pa. -

Police said an East Bangor man is in jail for fighting another man last month.

William Eugene Ruiz, 31, of 221 S. Broad St., got into a fight with Thomas Florio in front of 304 Garibaldi Avenue in Roseto on June 10, police said.

Police found Florio bleeding from his mouth, nose and ears.

Florio told police he was attacked from behind by Ruiz, after refusing to loan him money.

A witness told police he saw Ruiz punch Florio in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. While on the ground Ruiz hit Florio twice in the head with a closed fist, then kicked him in the head and chest, police said.

Florio was treated for a broken nose at Pocono Medical center.

Ruiz was arraigned Saturday and sent to the Northampton County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.

His preliminary hearing is set for July 23 at 10 a.m.
