A church in Lehigh County is reaching out for help to restore its bell tower.

Emmaus Moravian Church is working to raise money and community support to preserve its belfry.

The bell tower has been on Main Street for 180 years.

The congregation says the church is a part of the town's history.

"The tower specifically is an icon in the area and we believe there are people in the community who would find this project something they would want to support and feel good about supporting," said Linda Wisser.

The congregation hopes to raise more than $17,000 to refurbish the bell tower.

The work includes power-washing and restoring the surface and then giving it a fresh coat of paint.
