A Northampton County fire company is rallying around a young girl battling a rare form of cancer.

Monday, members of the Dewey Fire Company in Hellertown presented donations to help Hailey Carrol.

Hailey is a first grader at Saucon Valley Elementary School.

She's among just a handful of people ever to be diagnosed with a form of skin cancer known as Spitzoid melanoma.

The Dewey Fire Company raised $700 to help her family cover travel expenses for Hailey's treatments at Saint Jude's Children's Hospital in Tennessee.

At the fire company, Hailey got to enjoy a visit with Sparky, the fire-fighting dog.
