PALMER TOWNSHIP, Pa. -

A woman who's used to "falling into The Gap" fell into a big surprise Friday afternoon.

Karen Barbarics of Alburtis received The Gap's Fisher Award for community Friday at the Palmer Park Mall.

Barbarics is a Gap store manager.

The Fisher Award is named for Gap founders Doris Fisher and her late husband Don.

The award recognizes Gap employees who give back -- one of the Fishers' great passions.

Karen runs the Lehigh Valley's "Walk Now for Autism Speaks."

She has raised some 3-million dollars for the local Autism Speaks chapter.

"It's a great feeling to know that Gap -- and I always knew -- I'm able to do this because of the support of the company I work for.. and Gap has always been behind me in everything that I've ever done," said Barbarics.

Karen -- who has two sons with autism -- received a check for 10-thousand dollars.
Autism Speaks also got 10-grand.

Karen was also named one of The Gap's 35 most influential leaders in honor of The Gap Foundation, which turns 35 this year.
