Officials in northern Lehigh County are trying to figure out who's responsible for a gas leak that forced people out of their homes.

UGI says a leak was reported around 2:30 Tuesday afternoon at a condemned building in the 600 block of Main Street in Slatington.

Fire crews evacuated seven surrounding homes as a precaution.

UGI says the area where the gas service comes out of the ground was damaged but who caused that damage isn't clear just yet.

Crews are now making repairs.
