Girl scouts celebrate 100 years

MACUNGIE, Pa. -

Girl Scouts in the Lehigh Valley are learning there's more to scouting then selling cookies.

About 150 girls of all ages were learning just how far women have come in history at a special event Saturday afternoon.

The Girl Scouts of the Tri-Creek Service Unit in Macungie were celebrating the 100th year of scouting.

Daisies, Brownies, junior and senior level scouts rotated through different stations that highlighted significant events in women's history.

Scout leaders said it is important for young girls to know how woman have impacted the world.

" Well, they see pioneers basically and how women have come a long way and what they can do," said Debbie Lillegard, the Unit Manager. "Women can rule the world. Women can do anything. Men can do anything. You just set your mind to it,"she added.

Girl Scouts across the country are celebrating a century of service this year.
