Group stages 'Freedom to Marry' rally in Allentown

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

The weather didn't put a damper on an annual event in Allentown on Friday.

The Metropolitan Community Church of the Lehigh Valley held its "Freedom to Marry" rally outside the Lehigh County Courthouse.

Several same-sex couples made symbolic attempts to apply for marriage licenses.

Same-sex marriage has been legalized in a handful of states, but not in Pennsylvania.

More than a dozen other states have shot down efforts to legalize gay marriage.
