Gruver pleads guilty to aggravated assault
A Northampton County man accused of trying to kill his wife, and then apologizing in blood, has admitted to a lesser charge.
Jason Gruver has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault.
He was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison.
Gary Asteak, Gruver's attorney, said prosecutors dropped attempted murder charges in exchange for the plea.
They also agreed not to file additional charges should Gruver's wife become more ill or die
Police say Gruver choked his wife.. Maria.. last July inside their Nazareth home.. leaving her paralyzed.
Police say Gruver then slit his wrists and used his blood to write an apology message.
