BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

The weekend's scorching, scalding forecast didn't scare people away from camping at Dutch Springs in Bethlehem.

Hotter than normal temperatures aren't keeping folks away. Tents kept to the shade at Dutch Springs.

"We like the shade, it's nice," said Shane Butler. "You get the shade in the morning here and the shade in the evening from over there."

"Just staying in the shade and keep hydrated as much as possible," explained Jeff Dodds. "Drink a lot of water, that's what we keep making sure the kids do."

Like many of the campers, Shane Butler and his family will be enduring the heat, sweating through the weekend to scuba dive and use the aqua park.

"It's a little hotter than I thought it would be but we knew it was gonna be hot."

Many of these campers won't be relying on mother nature to beat the heat.

"We have some battery operated fans," said Dodd. "And lots of fluids, Gatorade, water."

It's hard to keep tent's cool in the heat, if you're lucky enough to have window's you should try leaving them open at night. It can help keep you cool.

That will be the only thing bringing Roy Velesco and his girlfriend Emily comfort tonight.

"We're probably not gonna go to sleep," he said. "We're probably gonna go to sleep late like 3AM because of this heat."

The Dodds family brought 20 gallons of water to make sure they could hydrate when the mercury rises.

"We knew it was gonna be hot," said Dodd. "But we know if we stayed in the water then we'd be okay."

That, and hoping the sunset brings some relief. The heat index is supposed to be right around 100 degrees through the weekend.
