Hazardous materials crews spent much of Friday afternoon working to clean up a  mercury spill.

The mercury spilled into a house and a parking lot at Glendon Avenue and Berwick Street in Easton around noon, fire officials said.

A contractor working in the area saw the spill and notified the fire department.

Officials say the first floor of the home is contaminated and the residents are not being allowed back in.

Officials still haven't determined what caused the spill.
