IronPigs hiring for 2012 season

A great place to find job opportunities is at a job fair.  Hundreds of people came out Saturday hoping to hit a home run working for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

The job fair was postponed because of the snow last weekend, and it might have been for the better  There was a steady stream of job seekers all day at Coca-Cola Park.

The IronPigs season starts April 4th and the club has dozens of positions they need to fill before game day.  Folks were able to apply and interview for three seasonal positions at the three hour event.

"Today is the first step in hiring probably 150 or so people we need to fill out our staff for the seasons games," said IronPigs Assistant General Manager Howard Scharf.

Positions range from food and beverage vendors, to kids zone, to warehouse workers for the 80 home games.  College student Guy Labar hopes he doesn't strike out after today's interview.

"I think it went pretty well," said Labar.  "This is my third interview, I worked at a movie theater before and a deli so I'm used to these kinds of things."

For other people, this was their first swing at the interview process.

"It was nerve racking but everyone here is really nice so it was easy to adjust," said Brittany Knauss of Whitehall.

Organizers said the turn out and the number of employees they're hiring has stayed consistent even with the down economy.  They plan to have all positions filled by March 1st.  But if you weren't able to make it out, you can come by the stadium anytime to fill out an application.

"We do interview throughout the course of the season, as long as we still have games, we'll still be interviewing," said Scharf
