LEHIGH TWP., Pa. -

A man is facing almost a dozen charges in connection with a fiery crash that happened after he drove a stolen car through a yard and into a parked vehicle last month, officials said.

Justin S. Geary, 19, fled the scene around 1 a.m. Sept. 12 after the 2000 Ford Focus he was driving slammed into a 2010 Kia Forte owned by Beth Bucko at 4133 Butternut Drive, Lehigh Twp., Northampton Co., officials said.

Geary damaged the yard of Bucko's home and two pine trees and injured himself, they added.

Geary turned up at police headquarters two days later with a black-and-blue face and arms and grimacing in pain, officials said.

Geary told police he was at the home of his friend Tyler Rogers, 4239 Butternut Lane, Lehigh Twp., when he took a car owned by Alyce Simmons without permission and went to a Turkey Hill store to buy cigarettes, officials said.

Geary said he didn't remember the crash, only that he woke up in the woods and walked to a friend's home behind the police department on Municipal Road, officials said.

Geary, of 468 East 11th St., Northampton, Northampton Co., was arraigned Thursday on 11 charges, including theft, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and failure to notify police, and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $5,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Oct. 25.
