Lehigh County Controller Glenn Eckhart is asking a judge to toss a complaint filed by the district attorney, who claims Eckhart is not eligible to hold the office.
District Attorney Jim Martin said Eckhart went from being county commissioner to county controller without a two-year break between the positions, which he said is illegal.
Eckhart responded to the claims once again in court documents filed this week. He said Lehigh County's home rule charter doesn't require the two-year break, and he wants the judge to dismiss the complaint.
