PALMER TWP., Pa. -

A man brandished a machete inside a car wash at one of his former co-workers while they were arguing, officials said.

Vernon Fountain Jr. took the machete from the waistband of his jeans and began wielding it while quarreling with his friend, David Latsch, at Rudy's Car Wash, 2500 Northampton St., Palmer Twp., Northampton Co., at 6:17 a.m. Sunday, officials said, adding that Latsch was seen on surveillance video "backing up in a concerned manner."

Court papers do not say why Fountain and Latsch were arguing.

Fountain put the machete in a garbage can outside the car wash, and was cut by the blade sometime during the incident, officials said.

Fountain, 24, of 933 Lehigh St., Easton, was arraigned on charges of possessing an offensive weapon and disorderly conduct and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $5,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. May 30.
