Senator Bob Casey visits new Olympus Medical Learning Center
A new modern medical training facility proved the perfect backdrop for discussing health care reform.
Senator Bob Casey (D-Pa. ) visited Olympus' new Medical Learning Center last week in Center Valley, Lehigh Co.
As part of one of its core businesses, Olympus designs and delivers innovative medical and surgical solutions.
Casey met with Medical Systems Group President Luke Calcraft to tour the facility and discussed issues affecting the medical device industry in the context of health care reform.
“I welcome the opportunity to discuss healthcare reform with stakeholders in Pennsylvania like Olympus,” said Sen. Casey. “I look forward to working together to invest in medical technology that plays an important role in diagnosing and curing numerous diseases.”
“We applaud the passion and commitment Sen. Casey shows for healthcare reform and appreciate his understanding and support of the contribution our industry brings to the quality of life of millions of Americans, not to mention the positive impact of our business on employment opportunities in eastern Pennsylvania," Calcraft said.
"We remain fully committed to meeting the needs of healthcare providers by providing cutting-edge medical products—most of which are aimed at early, minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment of diseases—that improve the quality of care, enhance patient satisfaction and reduce the total cost of healthcare,” Calcraft added.
The new 2,875-square-foot facility featuring new and innovative medical technology, will be used to train Olympus employees and distributor partners from across North and South America.
Through its partnership with Communities in Schools, Olympus will also use the new facility to provide education programs related to its current science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) initiatives, as well as general career training.
