A Northampton County man is facing charges for writing two checks six months ago against an account he knew had insufficient funds.
Vincent A. Basile used the checks to withdraw a total of $2,000 from the First Niagara Bank branch at 4510 Bath Pike, Hanover Township, on April 11 and 12, officials said.
They explained the checks were written after Basile had opened a checking account at First Niagara using a $10,000 check from his Morgan Stanley account, which Basile knew had insufficient funds.
Basile, 43, of 4105 Maria Lane, Hanover Township, was arraigned Wednesday afternoon and released on $10,000 unsecured bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. Dec. 10.
