Two men are behind bars after police said they were involved in an Allentown home invasion early Thursday.
According to court papers, police were called to a home in the 400 block of Chestnut Street around 3:15 a.m. for a report of a home invasion robbery in progress.
When police arrived, an officer heard a gunshot from inside the home, and heard several people yelling, police said.
Two men were seen running from the rear of the residence, police said, and both were found hiding under a set of stairs a short distance away.
The men were identified as 23-year-old Grisco Dejesus Morel of Reading, and 27-year-old Jamal Lee Simmons, who had no current address.
In a police interview, Dejesus Morel said he went to the house with several other people--including Simmons --with the plan to rob the residents.
Dejesus Morel and Simmons were each charged with robbery and burglary of an occupied structure. They were taken to the Lehigh County Prison after each being unable to post $250,000 bail.
