2 New Yorkers nabbed in shoplifting at pharmacy in Bethlehem
A shoplifter and her getaway car driver were nabbed after a brief chase in Bethlehem, officials said.
Connie Davis and John Stover were caught after police saw their car speeding turn off Easton Avenue onto North Boulevard around 6 p.m. Saturday, officials said.
Minutes before, Davis and Stover dropped a cloth gift bag that had been altered to defeat store security devices after they were stopped trying to leave the CVS at 2651 Easton Ave., Bethlehem, officials said.
The bag contained $772.84 in stolen merchandise, including antacids, weight loss products and cold remedies, officials noted.
Davis, 35, and Stover, 55, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., were both charged with criminal conspiracy and possessing an instrument of crime, according to court documents.
Davis also was charged with retail theft, court papers show.
Davis and Stover were committed to the Northampton County Prison, with bail for Davis set at $15,000 and Stover at $5,000, according to court papers.
Preliminary hearing for both is set for 9:30 a.m. Dec. 5.
