The driver of a tractor trailer has been freed from the wrecked rig following an extensive rescue operation that lasted approximately three hours.

The truck and another tractor trailer crashed around 11 a.m. Friday at the Route 309-Center Valley Parkway intersection in Upper Saucon Twp., Lehigh Co.

An emergency medical physician from Lehigh Valley Hospital was on the scene to help first responders in attending to the trapped victim.

The hospital has also sent a pair of emergency room physicians, a MedEvac ground crew, a trauma surgeon, an operating room nurse, a physician assistant and operating room supplies, a hospital spokesman said.

Officials on the scene have not been able to provide any information about the extent of the victim's injuries.
