For the 69 News viewing area, it was the warmest year on record.
Chief Meteorologist Ed Hanna said it was the warmest year on record throughout the 69 News viewing area, including Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Reading, Wilmington, Mt. Pocono, Trenton, and Philadelphia.
During 2012 in Allentown, the average average temperature was 54.7 degrees. The previous warmest year on record was 1998, when the average temperature in Allentown was 54.1.
Dating back to 1923, seven of the 11 warmest years on record in Allentown have occurred since 1990.
In Reading, 2012 tied 1998 for the warmest year on record with an average temperature of 56.3 degrees.
