EASTON, Pa. -

Several Easton businesses are having to use backup power to serve customers.

A vehicle hit a switch box near 3rd and Washington streets Tuesday evening, said Mark Troutman, of Met-Ed.

The impact extensively damaged equipment, including underground cables, Troutman said.

Seven customers are without power, including McDonald's, Wawa, Domino's Pizza, Condoms Galore and the Great Wall Chinese restaurant. Troutman said some of these businesses are running on generators.

Repair work is continuing and power should be restored by Friday afternoon, Troutman said.
