The cold, rainy weather didn't stop hundreds of families from standing in line for up to five hours on Tuesday, outside the City Limits Assembly of God in Allentown to get a free Thanksgiving meal.

“It's a celebration for the community, it's to let them know we appreciate them,” said Senior Pastor Jimmie Rivera.

Once the doors opened at 6 pm, the crowd was greeted with a round of applause and watched a short performance put on by church members, followed by the food give-away.

Each family received a free turkey and all the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal, all made possible by financial and food donations made to the church.

“We've got about 500 birds and 10 to 12 thousand pounds of food” said Pastor Rivera.

This is the 15th year that city limits assembly of God has provided a free thanksgiving dinner, helping over 400 families every year.
