ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

Monday night marked night three of Hanukkah and the city of Allentown was celebrating by lighting the Menorah.

Mayor Ed Pawlowski along with Rabbi Yaacov Halperin of Chabad of the Lehigh Valley lit the candles to the city's Menorah.

Hanukkah is and eight-day festival of lights where the Jewish celebrate a time in Israel where they believe light triumphed over darkness.

"They were able to find a small little jar of pure olive oil to light the Menorah at the temple that will last just for one day and ended up lasting for eight days and it symbolizes the idea that a little bit of light can send away, push away much darkness," said Rabbi Yaacov Halperin of Chabad of the Lehigh Valley.

Rabbi Halperin will help light the menorah in Easton Tuesday night and in Bethlehem on Wednesday night.
