Brennan leaves office, stays in state house
A local state lawmaker who's charged with beating his wife and driving drunk is staying in politics.
Lehigh and Northampton County State Representative Joseph Brennan has left office, the current state legislature finished up Friday.
Brennan is taking on a new job in the state House Democratic caucus.
Brennan declined to run for reelection after an incident in August.
He punched and choked his wife at his Fountain Hill home and then drove drunk, police said.
He faces a trial on charges of assault and DUI. It's his second DUI charge in two years.
