Brian Cardone, who told officer he would "bounce" Pa., busted for DUI
An out-of-state DUI suspect's boasts and wisecracks weren't enough to keep him out the county clink, officials said.
Brian P. Cardone was taken to the hospital for a blood alcohol test after his 2003 Toyota Corolla was part of a three-vehicle accident along Freemansburg Avenue in Bethlehem Twp., Northampton Co., at about 2:45 p.m. Saturday, officials said, adding that Cardone smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and his speech was slurred.
At the hospital, Cardone said no fewer than 10 times that he was going to "bounce" (leave) Pennsylvania in a few days and not return to face any charges that might be filed against him, and that he was moving from Virginia to Washington, D.C., officials said.
Cardone also told police his phone number was "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10"; gave his address as "somewhere"; provided a made up name with a sexual connotation for his doctor, and said that his family would be getting even with the arresting officer and hospital staff, the officials said.
The hospital test found Cardone's blood alcohol level was at least .16, officials said.
Court papers list three different addresses in Virginia for the 29-year-old Cardone -- in Aldie, Leesburg and Stoneridge.
He was arraigned on drunken driving charges and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $5,000 bail, according to court documents.
