Bryan Callahan a candidate for Bethlehem City Council

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

A Bethlehem native is planning to run for a seat on the City's council.

Bryan G. Callahan, 50, has announced his candidac for the 2013 race.

Callahan is the department chair for health and physical education at Freedom High School in Bethlehem, where he's taught classes for more than 19 years.

He has also been the athletic director, vice president of the Bethlehem Education Association and building representative for the BEA.

He's a Liberty High School graduate, and has a journalism/public relations degree from Lock Haven University. He also as a health/physical education degree from East Stroudsburg University and a Masters of Science degree from Wilkes University.

Callahan says he is committed to dealing with the issues and decisions that need to be made in the future to keep our neighborhoods strong, housing values up and to promote and welcome new businesses. 

He sayd his vision is to continue the redevelopment of our industrial brown fields and to grow our tax base which will keep our property taxes down while we continue to provide efficient city services and public safety programs.
