Community activist, former union president dies

The Lehigh Valley is mourning the loss of a community activist.

Pete DePietro died wednesday. He was 69-years-old.

DePietro was the former president of the local United Steel Workers union, and he was a founding member of the Bethlehem Steel Workers Archives.

He also served as a councilman for the borough of Freemansburg and as the president of the Lehigh Labor Council.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at Connell Funeral Home in Bethlehem.
