ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

Counter-protestors were ready to greet a controversial group that had plans to visit our area this weekend.

Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas, had announced plans to protest at four churches in the Allentown area Sunday but they didn't show up.

Westboro is known for anti-gay protests.

People who support the targeted churches gathered together at the First Baptist Church on North 19th Street in Allentown.

They used signs to spread a peaceful message.

Other churches targeted by Westboro were St. Paul's Anglican Church on Livington Street, Cathedral of St. Catharine on North 18th St., both in Allentown, and Asbury United Methodist Church on Springhouse Road in South Whitehall Twp.
