U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent spent the day discussing trade relations with our neighbors to the north.

Dent, a Republican who represents part of the Lehigh Valley and Berks County, was joined by several local executives for an interactive roundtable with Canadian Consul General John Prato.

Earlier in the day, the group toured some Lehigh Valley businesses that are headquartered in Canada. They also discussed job creation, the global economy and trade relations.

The U.S. and Canada have the largest trading relationship in the world, Prato said.

"What we have is an integrated economy between two jurisdictions that has worked for the benefit of both people and that's what trade should be doing, working for the benefit of both jurisdictions," Prato said.

Wednesday's roundtable was organized by the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.
