An Allentown woman sits in a jail cell after police say she killed her boyfriend by stabbing him in the neck.
During her arraignment Wednesday night, Carolina Feliz, 36, kept her head in her hands, not saying much more then 'yes' as the judge told her she was charged with criminal homicide.
Investigators said she stashed a knife under her pillow, and after a fight Wednesday morning, stabbed Desiderio Morales, 52, in the neck.
Police and paramedics rushed to a second floor apartment on South Ninth Street just before 7 a.m. Wednesday.
"Six police cars, three detective cars, cops standing everywhere, just chaos," a neighbor, who didn't want to reveal her name, said.
She says Morales lived in the apartment with Feliz and her four kids.
"The family is such a nice family, I'm shocked that this even happened in our neighborhood. I've known them since they moved in like 7-8 years ago and never had a problem out of anyone," she said.
But according to court paperwork, Feliz and Morales had a problem Wednesday morning.
Police say Feliz told officers she was drinking with her mom Tuesday night and "anticipated having a problem with her boyfriend." The documents say Morales was spending the night, and Feliz stashed a small knife under her pillow. When they woke up, they started fighting, and according to court papers, she stabbed Morales once in the neck.
The Palmerton man died shortly after being taken to the hospital.
"The lady is a powerful woman. She does everything for those children. She lives for those kids," she said.
At this point we still have no idea why the couple was fighting, but neighbors say one thing is certain.
"I really feel bad for the kids because any way you slice it, these children's lives are changed forever," she said.
Feliz is being held in Lehigh County Prison and is not eligible for bail. She'll be in court again next Wednesday.
