Federal money will help the Bethlehem Fire Department cover its safety and operation expenses.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded a $132,576 grant to the fire department.

"It’s grants like these that our fire companies rely on and most of all, deserve," said U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright, D-17th District. "It is critical that the brave men and women who volunteer to put their lives on the line every day to keep families throughout the city of Bethlehem safe have the equipment they need to most effectively do their jobs. This important investment will help save lives and keep our community safe."

The money comes from FEMA's Assistance to Firefighters Grants program.
