ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

The now-defunct Allentown State Hospital could soon be sold to the highest bidder.

The Pennsylvania Department of General Services said it's preparing to sell the hospital and other properties that are no longer being used by state agencies.

Officials are still working to complete appraisals, land surveys and environmental reports, but the hospital could be ready for sale by next spring. It's estimated value is about  $1.2 million.
