PLAINFIELD TWP., Pa. -

A man is facing charges for stealing more than $4,000 worth of jewelry from the bedroom of a woman he lived with for three months earlier this year, officials said.

Gary A. Arias was arrested for taking the jewelry from the home of Jill Furler, 1595 Sierra Lane, Plainfield Twp., Northampton Co., while he lived with her from July 11 to Oct. 26, 2012, officials said.

Furler reported the jewelry stolen on Nov. 10, and police subsequently discovered Arias had sold it on six different occasions, from July 23 to Sept. 5, at the Gold Silver Trading Post, 102 South Broadway, Wind Gap, Northampton Co., officials said.

Arias admitted on Nov. 14 to the theft of the jewelry, which was valued at $4,030, and selling it for $550, they added.

Arias, 25, of 400 Mack Road, Bangor, Northampton Co., was arraigned Friday on charges of theft and receiving stolen property and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $15,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Dec. 24.
