Hellertown Council approves construction and police purchases
The Hellertown Borough Council authorized purchasing a new Police Department bicycle and several construction payments at its meeting Monday night.
Hellertown Chief of Police, Robert Shupp, expressed the need for two new bicycles for department use to help with community patrol.
According to Shupp, people have vandalized several signs along trails and parkways throughout the Borough. Shupp requested permission from Council to purchase two new bicycles for patrolmen to use while on the trails.
Several Council members expressed their concern for the cost of such a purchase. After thorough discussion, it was approved by Council for Shupp to authorize the purchase of one new bicycle and a bike rack for the back of one of the police vehicles. Shupp will be using parts from several old bikes located at the Departments to put together one functional bike to use.
Council also authorized three construction payments for projects throughout the Borough.
The first payment was in the amount of $31,838.40 to Donald Reisinger, Inc. for the window replacement project at Borough Hall.
The second was to Boucher & James in the amount of $546.88 for inspection services for the Borough Hall Streetscape Project.
The final payment approved by Council was to Nimaris Construction in the amount of $63,653.17 for the Borough Hall Streetscape Project.
