House guest stole change and copper wire, police say
A house guest who showed bad manners by taking change and copper wire from his host without permission six month ago is in trouble with the law, officials said.
Erik C. Groover took $550 in change from a five-gallon jug and two rolls of copper wire worth $275 from Glenn Gorksi's home on Beeline Drive, Lower Saucon Twp., Northampton Co., on Sept. 27, 2012, officials said.
Gorski told police Groover had lived with him for two weeks before the theft, and was the only person who knew the home's alarm code, officials said.
Groover had promised to come to headquarters on Oct. 14, 2012, but never showed up, officials said, adding that Groover's father told police four days later he believed his son was using drugs again because he was asking for money and telling lies.
Groover, 42, of Forks Twp., Northampton Co., was arraigned on a theft charge early Tuesday morning and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $35,000 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. March 15.
