BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

A man is facing charges after he choked his girlfriend and yanked out one of her earrings, officials said.

Jason W. Stanton grabbed Ashley Zong by the throat during an argument in her apartment in the 1900 block of Livingston St., Bethlehem, at about 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, officials said, adding that Stanton also ripped an earring from her left ear.

Stanton, 38, of 1906 Livingston St., Bethlehem, was arraigned on assault and harassment charges and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $5,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Jan. 10.
