BANGOR, Pa. -

Bangor Police have arrested 18-year-old Jeffrey Gordan Cowan Jr. on assault charges.

Police said Cowan punched 20-year-old Ashley Shoemaker of Bangor in the face, threw her against the wall and covered her face so she would not scream. He also threatened to kill her several times, she told police.

The incident happened Wednesday around 10 p.m. at 289 S. Main Street in Bangor, Northampton County.

Cowan had fled before police arrived, but was located at Longs Alley and South Main Street.

He was arrested and charged with simple assault, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct.

He was taken to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $20,000 bail.
