An Allentown woman is accused of killing her 5-year-old son, according to paperwork from the Lehigh County District Attorney's office.
Cashmiere Hill, 5, had bruising on his head, arms and stomach but it was blows to the head that caused his death, District Attorney Jim Martin said.
The investigation has been ongoing since police and EMS workers responded to 107 12th Street in Allentown on November 29, 2012.
“The five-year-old boy was unconscious, not breathing or at least in distress,” said Martin.
Medical crews at St. Luke's Hospital and Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest treated the boy.
“He had a severe brain bleed," said Martin. "He was treated and unfortunately, he passed away on the next day.”
Jim Martin tells 69 News that investigators spoke with the boy's mother, Jessica Adams, 24, and her boyfriend.
“The investigation determined that Ms. Adams was the only person with access to the child and that she struck the child,” added Martin.
The coroner says Cashmiere Hill died from multiple blunt force injuries.
Jessica Adams is charged with homicide, endangering the welfare of a child, for allegedly striking the child numerous times on various parts of his body and engaging in a continued course of conduct involving physical abuse.
"The Commonwealth doesn't have to prove motive and it's hard for me to come up with any motive for a 24-year-old mother to beat her 5-year-old son,” said Martin.
Jessica Adams was arraigned Tuesday night. She was denied bail and sent to Lehigh County Prison.
