Joe Davis running for Allentown City Council
Joe Davis wants to keep the Allentown City Council seat to which he was appointed back in March.
He joined city council when Councilman Frank Concannon resigned.
“I am running because I care for the city and I believe in Allentown,” said Davis. “One of my priorities will be to encourage people to live in, work and raise their family in Allentown. I will promote cooperation between neighborhood groups and the city. We need to encourage residents to take an active role in using their experience and knowledge to make this a great city to reside in.”
A union Field Representative for BAC Local #5, Davis was active in local community groups such as Midway Manor Community Association and the Crime Watch program in his East Side neighborhood.
“The city is on verge of a major restoration and revival centered around the downtown and the waterfront,” he said. “These projects will bring much needed jobs to the city. I will do what I can to make sure these jobs will go to local workers and that these are family sustaining jobs and use Project Labor agreements wherever possible. I will also use my position to encourage builders and developers to invest in Allentown.”
Davis has served on the Budget and Finance and Public Works committees. He also chairs the Community and Economic Development committee and serves as the council representative on the Arts Commission and Allentown Economic Development Corporation.
