A former police officer who was cleared of homicide in a crash that killed two bikers in Northampton County has learned his fate.

John Heaney was sentenced Monday to 37 to 118 months in prison, which is the maximum sentence allowed.

Heaney was driving drunk in Bangor in July when he crashed into a group of motorcyclists on their way to a funeral, police said.

Mike Zadoyko and Keith Michaelson were killed.

Heaney said he wasn't driving drunk. He claimed he suffered from a blood sugar attack at the time of the crash.

Heaney was cleared last month of homicide charges, but he was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter.
